Being the "Gateway to the Lacassine Wildlife Refuge", many visitors stop and enjoy the good flavor of Cajun cooking, the friendliness of our people, and the warm feeling our small town offers. Nearby, beautiful bayous are home to many varieties of wildlife and native plants. An abundance of recreational activities for all ages exists. One can find a large range of activities such as fishing, baseball, hunting, exercise classes, swimming, and bird-watching. We are in the midst of a sportsman's paradise. 1. Town of Welsh Parks and Recreation Program:

The Town of Welsh operates three parks, Sportsman Park**, Richmond Park, and Bethune Park. The recreational program provides the following:

2. Hunting and Fishing:

Welsh is truly located in the middle of Sportsman Paradise. The many waterways in our area provides enthusiasts with an abundance of locations to hunt, fish, or just observe the wildlife in their natural habitats. There are hunting lodges located in the surrounding area offering great outdoor hunting adventures. Welsh is the gateway to the Lacassine Wildlife Refuge. This precious and beautiful reserve, located just south of Welsh, provides an abundance of wildlife including fish and fowl for the fisherman, hunter, and bird-watcher. Many travel to the reserve to observe the many forms of wildlife in their natural habitat. Watch out for that gator!
